Zero Tolerance Policy
The Children’s Wellness Centre is committed to providing a safe environment for all our team members, as well as clients, free from acts of threats, physical violence, intimidation, harassment, verbal abuse or coercion.
The Children’s Wellness Centre states that all Independent Clinical Practitioners and employed staff members have a right to come to work without fear of being attacked or abused. A mutual respect between all team members and clients must be in place.
The Children’s Wellness Centre understands that for many parents / carers whose child may have physical, social, emotional needs and/or diagnoses, this can cause high levels of stress, meaning a parent or carer may not always act in a reasonable manner. This will be taken into consideration when trying to deal with a complaint or a misunderstanding, however, aggressive behaviour, will not be tolerated.
For The Children’s Wellness Centre to maintain good relations with their clients, the practice would like to ask all its clients to read and take note of the occasional types of behaviour that would be found unacceptable, either in person or on the phone:
• Using bad language or swearing
• Aggression, shouting, yelling or intimidation
• Any physical violence
• Verbal abuse in any form
• Persistent or unrealistic demands that cause stress
• Causing damage/stealing from the Practice’s premises, staff or clients
Racial abuse and sexual harassment will not be tolerated within The Children’s Wellness Centre.
Any incident of abuse will be dealt with, and if an initial discussion around this does not prevail, therapy may be terminated if a working relationship has been impacted by inappropriate behaviour. This is not only for the safety and comfort of our team, but for best practice. The cornerstone of care is based on mutual respect and trust; if this has broken down between the Clinical Practitioner and the parent/carer it is not appropriate to continue to provide support.
In extreme circumstances, we will report inappropriate behaviour to the relevant authorities, including the police or social services. The Children’s Wellness Centre will support external agencies in any investigations with regards to incidents reported.
