Parent / Carer Online Workshops
Our parent / carer workshops are currently run online, via Zoom, allowing you to attend from the comfort of your own home! The workshops will include presentations and talks from our expert Therapist relating to the specific topic, as well as opportunities to share your own views and hear about the experiences of other parents / carers. They aim to be highly informative and insightful, offering opportunities to learn new skills via our Therapist and via discussions with other parents / carers in similar situations.
All attendees will be sent a log in link to ‘meet’ online at the planned time on the evening of the course. You will need a computer/tablet or phone to be able to log in and view the workshop.
How we can support our children to regulate their emotions
Date: Coming soon!
Time: 7.45pm – 9.45pm
Price: £50 per household
Suitable for: Any parent/carer/grandparent with children of any age, or those working with children.
Many children greatly struggle with their emotions and it is natural at times for them to express their feelings through negative behaviours. For some, these behaviours may be escalating right now as we all endeavour managing our way through a global Pandemic (although the workshop will be focusing on general everyday life, and not just factors relating to COVID-19).
Helping your child to have improved Emotional Regulation can benefit many areas of a child’s life. It can help them cope with difficult experiences and everyday stress, pay attention and focus, achieve more from school, learn to better resolve conflicts with peers/siblings and display lower levels of physiological stress, through being able to express their thoughts, feelings, needs and frustrations appropriately. This workshop will explore how the brain works, especially when overwhelmed and will allow opportunities for attendees to think about their own responses to their children, leaving with a plan to put in place at home. The course is run by our Child Therapist James. An optional certificate of attendance can be provided.
